T O P I C R E V I E WproxiemeAs for myself, I've had an exciting night of eating good ol' Suthren Bar-B-Q, moisterizing and waxing - and tapping in a few nails of - a cradle that held my Great Grandmother (for use with the upcoming kiddo) while feeling that aforementioned kiddo's butt butt into my ribcage and her various other parts flutter, poke, and jab with some Jazz to accompany (nothin' like Coltrane on a lonely night when your love's a mile and a world away in WOCS). Several of my windows are open - it's currently about 58 down here in 'Bama land - and a fresh, cool breeze is kissing my face while clearing out the cleaning fumes. How's everyone else's weekend-to-be going? trillianHi Prox Sounds like a quiet but lovely evening for you. 58 degrees sounds like a dream to those of us in the North...Listening to Vangelis, the soundtrack to "Blade Runner." Beautiful, ethereal music, and a damn fine movie too. If you ever get a chance to rent it be sure to get the director's cut, widescreen.Dinner dishes are waiting for me to wash and I have a pretty quiet night ahead. Tomorrow I will pick up my beautiful 14 year old niece for a girl's day of shopping, followed by rented DVDs and too much junk food. Last week she gave me one of the best gifts I've ever received. A class assignment required her to write an essay about the person whom she admires most, and it was ME! It's framed and sitting on my dresser...Mostly, all I can think of is that in three weeks, I will be on holiday in Ireland with my Gem, and I am so, so eager to be there and be in his arms....Happy weekend everyone. pixelpixie That's awesome, both of you!!!!I am gonna play some video games with my nine year old! Hee hee, "Crash Bash"I'll save the debauchery for tomorrow.Trillian~ I hope one day someone admires me like that..(I hope I can be that kind of person one day*) how wonderful for you!!!EverlongRight now I'm just listening to music (my favorite past time) and finishing up "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. Which is really a good book ^^.I'm going to the movies tomorrow night with a friend and her new boyfriend. Her dad won't let her date yet (which is ridiculous, she's fifteen), so I have to tag along- I hate being the third wheel, but I have been wanting to see Return of the King again =D.------------------"Out of your depth or not, it's up to you whether you sink or swim."proxiemeVery cool, ya'll Right now I'm up (in the middle of the night for me - US Central Time) and have been for a little over an hour. I'm getting tired again, though.I awoke with a start, and am not sure if it was a dream, a noise, or the kiddo going nutso with her movements (smack-dab in the middle of the night being her active time...yaaaay). Then I started worrying (Just how strong should her movements be? Are they strong enough - she doesn't kick much, mostly squirms...? Was I just too stubborn and overdid it with moving boxes, etc? Was that yoga class that I took the other day to vigorous for the kiddo? Is the placenta still attached to the uterus...did my twisting and stuff un-attach it in any way??? Are the cleaning products I'm using harming the kiddo??? Have I caused braindamage through waxing tables???) Gah! I wish that I had a definite OB/Gyn (as I'm in the middle of processing for a Tricare "outside referral" since there's no OB Clinic at this Post's hospital) who I could call or visit so s/he could check on the baby's progress and/or reassure me!!! Aaaaah! proxiemeAnd *this* is what happens when I can't get to sleep...I start experimenting...Okie...let's see if this works... proxiemeYaaay!(I'm such a geek )lioneye68nuthin there, Prox. What the heck was that?Oh yeah, the nesting instinct. That was fun. Finding a crib and setting it up, finding drapes, finding a dresser, getting bedding, fluffing up squashed stuffed animals pulled out of bags and boxes in storage, looking for cutsie tootsie accessories and pictures...you know, you never really feel done, until a week or two before you go into labor. Then, when you DO feel done, you just keep wandering into the room and looking around, proud, yet apprehensive...*I* think it's nice, but is it baby-worthy? It LOOKS comfy, but will my baby FEEL comfy? And so on. And each time, you're heart will whisper "yes, it's fine...as long as you love her and care for her with all your heart...it's fine". Gosh, I was so proud of my daughter's bedroom before she was born, I took like 6 pictures of it. Just a baby's bedroom. No people, or animals, or anything, just a made up crib with stuffed animals in it! A shot with the drapes in it, one with the dresser in it, one FROM the crib, showing the rest of the room, pictures on the wall and all...LOL...so lame. I was just so darn proud of that baby room.proxiemeAw, it went away...It was a groovy little timeline from some website showing how far along I am.I haven't yet tackled the baby's room - it's still currently full of my book boxes and baby stuff. The whoooole rest of the apartment is set up, so it's the next to be tackled...I'll let ya'll know if I take pictures (I will )Virgo-AriesArtistHmmm....I have worked and will work my butt off this weekend, as I work in retail (specifically GYMBOREE), and this time of year almost seems as crazy as Christmas ( ), since we have tons, I repeat, tons, of sales right now. I do love the chaos as it allows me to be the extra-helpful wise salesperson I am inside, and of course, seeing and interacting with all the under-8 kiddos, but I am just a tad exhausted from the level of activity and actually slept a solid 9 hours last night, which I haven't done in months. Had some great cajun chicken, rice, and pasta yesterday for lunch, and then finished it off for breakfast this AM. Yummy! Nice to hear about everyone else's weekends too.-------------------K"Most people love with restraintAs if they were someday to hateWe hated gently, carefullyAs if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at MidnightpixelpixieProx~ The bedroom's more for you than the baby anyway......We got my daughter's room prepared like something right out of Martha Stewart Living.....but she ended up sleeping in our room anyway...so much easier for nursing and getting sleep, plus, it is so warm and loving and fuzzy and cuddly, it is baby exctasy! When my daughter was about 2 days old, I mixed up the perfect shade of paint to match her room, and painted her foot, then pressed it in the middle of a canvas (well gessoed) It is so small and perfect, and is still on her wall, reminding me what a sweet little pumpkin this busy child was.Ah! Enjoy this! It is so special!firestarI was looking for the "Today was a fabulous day because....." thread but I couldn't find it, so this will have to do.I sold my house today!!! I finally am going to be moving home to Colorado. I love California and have had a wonderful 16 years here but I miss my family. I had a commitment that kept me from being able to leave. That commitment ended Friday...I had been nervous because the house had been up for sale since November and only a few people had even come to see it. I kept telling myself not to worry...the Universe would handle it. Sure enough. I accepted and offer today for what I was asking. What a relief. Thanks for allowing me to share my excitement. Ya'll take care..*hugs*Ariesrocks!I'm jumping on my trampoline!!!!!!I love that thingpixelpixieFirestar!!!! Good advice to yourself, first of all, second, that's AWESOME!!!!!! Good fot you!!!
